Two firefighters were injured while responding to a house fire in Garner on Old Cascade Drive, around 6:15 a.m.
They were injured while accessing the fire that was inside a wall. One firefighter needed stitches, another was treated for exhaustion, according to Garner Fire Chief Barrett Penny.

Five fire departments worked to extinguish the fire, including Garner, Cleveland, Clayton, Knightdale and Swift Creek Fire Departments.
The homeowner was inside and was alerted by a smoke detector, and he did not sustain any injuries.
The fire was contained within 20 minutes.
