Wake County Schools put on an all-district theatre production of Come From Away, a Broadway musical that tells the true story of Gander, the small Canadian town that took in over 7,000 stranded travelers on Sept. 11, 2001.
The town of 9,000 people took in passengers after the U.S. airspace was closed. Residents housed and cared for the stranded passengers for five days.

"This particular musical is powerful. The representation of humanity that it is, and all the other demonstrations of humanity on 9/11 is really a powerful message," said parent, David Logan.
Students from six schools are represented in the Wake County theatre invitational. Shows ran from Sept. 10-12 at Enloe High School.
"Our students were excited about a show, like they always are, but they were asking their teachers, their adults - how did this day impact them? It became real and present for them, and not just the moment of silence in school," said Rebecca Craig, Wake County theater teacher.
