Wake County deputies charged a woman on Monday, who they say was involved in a mail theft and fraud scheme.
According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, Rayna Gibson, 25, of Kinston, was charged with two counts of forgery of an instrument, two counts of uttering a forged instrument and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

Deputies responded to two separate incidents in February related to reports of larceny from mailboxes in Wake County.
Both times, the victims reported the checks they placed in the mail were altered and had a different name and larger amount on the check, deputies said.
According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, the updated name on each check was the same.
Gibson was also charged in February for the same charges by Garner and Clayton police, warrants said.
She is being held in the Durham County Detention Center under unrelated charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
