Wake County schools teacher charged with assaulting students

A Wake County Public Schools System teacher was charged after an investigation into students being assaulted at an elementary school.

Investigators charged Scott Swartzfager, 47, with five counts of felony assault on an individual with a disability and five counts of assault on a child under 12.

Swartzfager was arrested and processed into the Wake County Detention Center on Tuesday. Swartzfager is a special education teacher and was suspended by the district.

Authorities received a report from WCPSS regarding alleged assaults against students by a teacher at Carver Elementary School on May 9.

An investigation is ongoing.
