Evacuees can return home after gas leak closes roads, addresses along Wendell Falls Parkway

Wendell firefighters are responding to a natural gas leak along Wendell Falls Parkway Wednesday morning.

Evacuations were issued for addresses directly neighboring the leak area along the parkway. As of 9:49 a.m., the Town of Wendell has reopened the following streets to traffic as they and the NatGas company Enbridge continue to monitor the leak. 

Intersection closures included:

• Academy Street at Wendell Boulevard
• Cook Street at Todd Street
• Magnolia Street at 4th Street
• Wendell Boulevard at Cypress Street
• 3rd Street at Wendell Falls Parkway

Evacuees from the area should be able to return home.
