Authorities have identified two men who died after being pulled from the ocean at Holden Beach over the weekend, as WECT Wilmington reports.
The Holden Beach Police Department identified the victims as Daniel Jason Roberts, 46, and Dylan Daniel Roberts, 20, both of Lenoir, North Carolina. Family members said they were father and son.

Emergency crews responded to the 1100 block of Ocean Boulevard West at approximately 9:43 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, after Brunswick County Communications received reports of two people struggling in the water. First responders initiated rescue and life support efforts, but both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Holden Beach Police Department has not confirmed whether the deaths were related to a rip current or a drowning. A request for comment from the police chief had not been returned as of publication. The WECT First Alert Weather team notes that rip current risk in Holden Beach that day was rated moderate.
The Town Tavern Blowing Rock, a restaurant in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, posted on Facebook Sunday that it would be closed Sunday and Monday to mourn Dylan Roberts, whom the restaurant identified as an employee:
“He was a crucial part of our family, bringing an unmistakable energy, warmth, and positive spirit to the Tavern day after day. In an industry often marked by long hours and difficult struggles, Dylan brought life, laughter, and purpose,” the post read in part.
