DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Duplin County high school teacher is accused of having sex with a student.
James Graves, 48, was charged Friday with 14 counts of sexual acts with a student, three counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and three counts of third-degree sexual explotation of a minor.

The Hope Mills man was a JROTC teacher at James Kenan High School. He was nominated for Beginning Teacher of the Year in 2023.
According to the warrants, Graves was sexually involved with the 17-year-old girl dating back to November 2023. Court documents show that he continued to engage in sexual acts with her from September through December 2024.
Officals tells WITN News that the acts happened both on and off campus. Police said he filmed videos of them having sex in 2023 when she was 14-years-old.
Graves is being held at the Duplin County Jail without bond.
