Person County officials confirmed the sixth positive rabies exposure case for the year.
On Tuesday, officials with the Person County Animal Services and Person County Health Department said a bat on Rolling Hills Road resulted in two confirmed rabies exposures.

People are urged to take extra precautions when approaching wild animals or animals they are unfamiliar with. Officials also said people should:
- Monitor your surroundings when outdoors
- Keep children and pets supervised and away from wildlife
- Make sure all pets are up to date on rabies vaccinations
- Avoid handling stray or injured animals, even seemingly friendly animals
Officials say anyone that may have been bitten or scratched by an animal, or if a pet encounters a wild animal should call 911 and seek emergency medical care immediately.
