Fire crews said a large outdoor fire in Moore County has been completely contained.
Crews were called at 3:27 p.m. to Union Church Road in Vass. When they arrived, firefighters said the fire was growing quickly, and crews could not access it from the road.

WRAL's Sky 5 flew over the scene where crews were seen battling the flames. Officials said the fire spanned about 40 acres.

Firefighters arranged fire trucks to protect homes near the fire, officials said. No homes or nearby buildings have been lost, officials said. No evacuations have been reported.
Officials said two Forest Service Plows and a Forest Service Spotter Plane were dispatched to the fire. A North Carolina Forest Service helicopter, single engine air tanker and court plane are also on the scene.
Crews worked for hours trying to extinguish the flames. Helicopters and planes were seen carrying buckets of water working to control the flames. As of 10:25 p.m., the fire was completely contained.
It is not clear what caused the fire. Officials urge people to avoid the area while the investigation is still ongoing.
