A former North Carolina police chief facing more than 80 felony charges is now being accused of stealing catalytic converters from his employer.
WECT News reports that Anthony Spivey, former Chadbourn chief of police, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with larceny by an employee. He is accused of stealing two catalytic converters from his employer, an auto repair shop, on Dec. 23.

Back in May, Spivey was charged with embezzlement of state property, altering or destroying evidence, obstruction of justice, trafficking in opium, obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and obtaining property by false pretense.
The indictments allege that Spivey stole firearms from the police department evidence locker and sold them "to friends, family members, and acquaintances," Brunswick County District Attorney Jon David said in a statement.
Arrest warrants allege he repeatedly raided the police department’s evidence locker and stole thousands of dollars in cash, hundreds of narcotics pills, and firearms during most of his tenure as police chief.
He was also charged with embezzling $8,000 meant for a family whose son was battling leukemia.
