A pet sitter in New Hanover County is charged with animal cruelty after two dogs left in her care died.
The pet owner hired the woman through a popular pet-sitting app called Rover.

Less than a week after dropping them off, the owner received a call saying one of her dogs had died in a crate and the other was being rushed to the vet.
Both animals ended up dying.
Deputies with New Hanover County Sheriff's Office found some alarming conditions at that sitter's home, describing "cages on top of each other with animals in them."
The sheriff's office said 16 animals were removed from the home.
The Rover app issued a statement saying they have launched an investigation into this case and have removed that sitter from the platform.
