Feb. 23-24, 2023

  • Fuquay-Varina High School
    • Someone posted a threat against the school on Snapchat on Feb. 23.
    • On Feb. 24, another video threat was posted. In that instance, a student suspect was identified and sent home. That student will face school discipline and legal action.

      • Granville County Schools
        • A social media threat was made on Feb. 12, leading to increased security and metal detectors.
        • The threat was not confirmed.

          Feb. 3, 2023

          Parents of students from Raleigh to Zebulon scrambled to pick up frightened children, to calm fears and to raise questions after six schools endured some level of lockdown.

          • Zebulon Magnet Middle School (had several threats this week) was the first to enter a Code Red lockdown around 8:30 a.m.
            • Students were dismissed early.
          • East Millbrook Magnet Middle School entered a Code Red lockdown around 9:33 a.m.
            • Students were allowed to go home early.
          • Broughton High School was on a Code Yellow lockdown.
          • Dillard Drive Magnet Middle School entered a code yellow lockdown around 10:45 a.m.
          • Dillard Drive Magnet Elementary entered a code yellow lockdown around 10:45 a.m.
          • Oberlin Magnet Middle School entered a code yellow lockdown around 10:45 a.m.
          • Zebulon GT Magnet Elementary placed on “modified code yellow” lockdown around 10:45 a.m.

              • Juvenile male caught with an AR-15 at a playoff basketball game against Hillside (Durham)

              Feb. 17, 2023

              • Culbreth Middle School (Chapel Hill)
                • A pellet gun resembling a "real" gun was confiscated from a student.
              • Nick Jerald's Middle School (Cumberland County)
                • An unloaded .380 handgun, pocket knife and eyebrow razor blade were located.
              • Erwin Elementary (Harnett County)
                • 9-year-old brings loaded gun in backpack.

                • Cleveland High School (Johnston County)
                  • An unloaded gun was found in a car in the school's parking lot.

                  Feb. 14, 2023

                • Wendell Middle School (Wendell)
                • WCPSS security has revealed that the student did not mean to bring harm to our school, but instead was showing the weapon to classmates.
                • Ayana Snead was charged with storing a firearm in a manner that was accessible to a minor.
