A Northern Wake battalion chief says that a semi-truck leaked around 200 gallons of diesel fuel onto an exit ramp.
A crack developed in the line connecting the two front fuel tanks, causing the spill.
The truck driver or the trucking company is responsible for hiring a cleanup crew to handle the diesel fuel.
Once that's complete, they'll also need to bring in another crew to remove contaminated soil.
Raleigh Hazmat, the Northern Wake Fire Department, and other agencies are on the scene cleaning up the leak.
The ramp closure is causing traffic delays in the area.
There is no word yet on when the ramp will be reopened.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes.
