Durham police are hoping to learn more about a 17-year-old they found dead in October of 2023.

On Oct. 6, 2023, a tree service worker found a body in a wooded area in the 200 block of East End Avenue. On Friday, police sent out an advisory that the victim was a 17-year-old male. Investigators consider the case a homicide.

Initially, police were unable to identify the body. The victim's name was not released. The victim had a green pocket knife in his possession with an unique emblem reading 'Rangers: Lead the Way,' a popular Army phrase.
