A man has been arrested in Halifax County after the sheriff's office said he fired a shotgun at employees of a local fiber internet company.

On Saturday, deputies responded to the 100 block of Lee Lane Road due to a gunshot being fired in the area. Deputies learned that a man had fired a shot at employees who were going door to door in the neighborhood offering internet service to homeowners.

After Larry Mickey Scott declined the service and closed the door, the sheriff's office said he came back outside, aimed his shotgun at one of the employees and fired the shotgun.

A search warrant was executed at Scott's residence and the shotgun was seized.

Scott was arrested and charged with possession of firearm by a felon, assault by pointing a gun and assault with a deadly weapon.

The employee was not injured.

Scott was given a $12,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 11.
