A man has been taken into custody after a barricade incident that led to an entire neighborhood being evacuated.
On Sunday at 4:16 p.m., the Granville County dispatch received a call about an illegal burn near Wisteria Court in Wake Forest. A Granville County fire marshal arrived on scene, where a man was acting erratic and attempting to spray him with a water hose.

Authorities said the suspect, Scott Pendleton, went back into the home, shut the door and refused to come out. Pendleton reappeared inside the home with a firearm, according to authorities.
Around 7:05 p.m., neighbors were evacuated from their homes, and deputies went door-to-door notifying neighbors about the situation. A shelter-in-place notification was sent out to nearby neighbors as well.
Deputies surrounded the barricaded suspect's home, and authorities said Pendleton fired a shot from the back door of the home.
The sheriff's office requested the assistance of the Durham County Sheriff's Office SRT, Hostage Negotiations and Durham County Sheriff's Office Bomb Unit. Authorities confirmed there was no bomb threat but said the unit happened to be in the area for training.
Throughout the evening, authorities said Pendleton brandished firearms at deputies and refused to communicate with negotiators. A chemical weapon was presented, and that's when law enforcement made a forced entry into the home and took the suspect into custody.
Pendleton was treated at the scene for injuries. Pendleton's dog also sustained injuries and was treated at a hospital in Durham. The dog is expected to fully recover.
Pendleton was transported to the Granville County Detention Center where he was charged with additional felonies and given a $100,000 secured bond.
