Doctors are warning travelers of a new threat. The insect-borne oropouche virus is spreading in South America and the Caribbean.

So far, 11 cases of the virus – which causes fever, chills, headaches and tiredness – have been linked to people who have been to those areas. Two deaths, of pregnant women, were reported in Brazil. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that is it possible the virus can be transmitted from a pregnant woman to the child she is carrying.
