Suspicious package contained baby powder, hazmat team finds

Moore County officials determined a suspicious package sent to a man in Carthage with white powder contained baby powder.

The man was concerned about the contents and took the package to the Carthage police department around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Hazmat units were dispatched to the man's home, at U.S. Highway 15-501 and Stage Road, and to the police department.

Officials said a female prison inmate sent the package with baby powder as a joke.
