East Garner Middle School's New Backpack Policy Sparks Confusion
The principal of East Garner Middle School, Sharon Fennell, addressed parental concerns regarding the school's newly implemented backpack policy, which mandates that students leave their backpacks at home. Instead, the school will provide binder bags for students to use this year.
Parents expressed frustration to WRAL about receiving late notice of this significant policy change, leading to complications during drop-off and pick-up times at the school. Despite the change, Principal Fennell reassured parents that students who have already purchased backpacks can still bring them to school.
The school is currently developing a plan to effectively transition to this new policy. In light of this change, WRAL also encourages families to prepare for the upcoming school year by visiting their back-to-school guide available on their homepage.
