Kelly Marshburn was sitting in her living room around 4:15 p.m., reading a book when it happened.

“All of a sudden there was a bright flash, the whole living room lit up, the whole house shook and just deafening thunder all simultaneously,” Marshburn said. “I thought our house had been struck by lightning.”
It was all caught on her doorbell camera.
According to Marshburn, shortly after the lightning hit, heavy rain came through that area.
“It was just lightning and thunder,” she said. “Then about maybe a minute or two later, a heavy downpour that lasted maybe about a minute or two and then everything moved away.”
Pictures of the aftermath show a mark on the tree that was hit, a damaged power pole, and pieces of the transformer that was also damaged.
Marshburn said she didn’t lose power, but the two houses across the street from her did.
Duke Energy is working to restore the power and fix the power pole.
Marshburn warns everyone to take lightning seriously.
“If I had been outside when it hit, I would be concerned, you know, that I would have been struck by the voltage,” Marshburn said.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
