Friday will likely be our first day of the year that we hit 80 degrees! Let's break down how long it has been since we the 80s and the pattern causing this anomalous warmth.
If we hit 80 degrees today, it will be the first time since Oct. 18, 2025.

If we can jump to 83 degrees which is our forecast high for Raleigh, that would be the warmest temperature we've seen since October 7th when we hit 86 degrees.
That would also break the record of 82 degrees which was set back in 1918 and 1967.
We've come close to hitting 80 degrees over the past 5 days, but we were just shy of the mark. With the upper-level high that built over the southeast U.S. this past weekend, we managed to reach 78°. On both Wednesday and Thursday, we hit 79°.

It has been slowly building over the past few days, and we will sit it back off just a bit into the end of the weekend and start of next week. Highs will still be in the upper 70s. By the middle of next week, the ridge pattern builds again allowing highs to jump back to the mid 80s.
