Every WRAL newscast streams live on jshu.net, in the WRAL News app and on the WRAL streaming apps for TVs. Look for the live link at the top of jshu.net while a newscast is on the air. Breaking news, trials and news conferences also stream live when they happen.

Between newscasts, the most recent broadcasts are on the recent WRAL newscasts page, and stories and clips are in Video Central.

Yes. WRAL has free apps for Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV, and WRAL programming is available on Samsung TV Plus. Search for WRAL in your device's app store or channel guide. The apps carry live newscasts, breaking coverage and on-demand video.

Most playback problems clear up with a few quick checks, in this order:

1. Refresh the page, or close and reopen the app.
2. Update your browser or the WRAL app to the latest version.
3. Turn off ad blockers and privacy extensions for jshu.net. These tools can remove the code the video player and photo galleries depend on.
4. Try a different browser, device or network to see whether the problem follows you.
5. In the app, delete and reinstall it.

Still stuck? Report a technical problem and include the device, browser or app version, the page or video, and the time it happened. Those details let engineers reproduce the problem.

WRAL-TV is channel 5 over the air. If the channel disappears or freezes, run a channel scan (sometimes called autoprogram or rescan) from your TV's settings menu, then check that the antenna is connected and pointed toward Raleigh. Weather and nearby construction can also affect reception.

WRAL2 is WRAL's second channel, found over the air on channel 5.2 and on some cable systems. Check your provider's channel lineup, since carriage varies by provider.

WRAL interrupts regular programming for tornado warnings and for severe thunderstorm warnings when damage is likely, because the information can save lives. For less serious threats, WRAL uses the crawl at the bottom of the screen instead. When coverage runs long, scheduled programs are often moved to WRAL2.

Report a closed captioning problem with the channel and program, the date and time you saw it, how you were watching and, if you watch through cable, satellite or a streaming service, the name of your provider. Reports go directly to the team that monitors WRAL captioning.

Newscast video going back to the 1970s is available for licensing through WRAL Archives, which also has a frequently asked questions page. Some local programs that aired outside newscasts are not yet in the archive.

To share a story or clip for free, use the share button on the story or copy its web address. Links to WRAL stories do not expire, and no permission is needed to link to them. WRAL does not provide video files for use on other websites.

The WRAL Weather section has the current conditions, the 7-day forecast, the hour-by-hour forecast, the latest video forecast from the WRAL Weather Center and the interactive radar, including the Dual Doppler 5000. Enter a city or ZIP code to see the forecast anywhere in the United States.

In the WRAL Weather app, tap Forecast in the bottom menu and swipe up past the weekly forecast for the hourly forecast and wind. Tap Radar for the interactive radar, then Change view for layers such as Futurecast, lightning and tropical storms. The Dual Doppler 5000 is the default view for anyone within its range.

In the WRAL Weather app:

1. Tap the underlined location at the top of the home screen to open My Locations.
2. Tap the arrow beside My Current Location, then tap Edit.
3. Turn on the alert types you want, including proximity alerts for hail, rain, snow and wintry mix.
4. Tap Save.

You can save up to 16 custom locations, such as home, work or a relative's house, give each one a nickname and choose alerts for each. Alerts can also be managed under More, then Customize alerts.

The WRAL weather almanac shows highs, lows, records, normals and sunrise and sunset times for Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and its historical data tool goes back more than 50 years. That history is also the best guide for an outdoor event more than seven days away, since forecasts only cover the next week.

For certified weather records, such as for an insurance claim, contact the National Centers for Environmental Information. Lightning strike reports come from Vaisala, which runs the National Lightning Detection Network. Both charge for certified reports.

The WRAL beach and mountain forecast has three-day forecasts for North Carolina beach and mountain destinations, from Nags Head, Hatteras and Wrightsville Beach to Boone and Asheville, plus lake levels. For any other town, enter it in the location search in the WRAL Weather app.

My WRAL is the free WRAL account. Select Sign in at the top of any page, enter your email address, and WRAL emails you a one-time code to finish signing in. There is no password to create or remember.

A My WRAL account is used to manage newsletters, enter contests and send tips, photos and reports through Report It. If a code doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder, then request a new one.

During big news or weather events, email providers such as Gmail and Yahoo slow down delivery when large volumes of mail arrive at once, and full inboxes or spam filters can hold messages back. App notifications arrive faster and more reliably, so turn them on in the WRAL News and WRAL Weather apps for time-sensitive alerts.

In the WRAL News app, open the main menu, select Settings and use the switches to turn each alert type on or off, including breaking news, traffic, live video and sports.

If notifications stopped after you moved to a new phone, delete the WRAL News app and reinstall it from the app store. Restoring from a backup can copy the app without registering your new phone for notifications.

As a matter of policy, WRAL does not remove stories or photos from its archive. When a charge reported by WRAL is later dismissed or expunged, WRAL adds that outcome to the story as an editor's note once it receives documentation. Errors of fact are corrected.

HighSchoolOT covers more than 100 high schools in central and eastern North Carolina, with dedicated sections for football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball and lacrosse. Use the school menu at the top of any HighSchoolOT page to jump to your school. Reporters can't reach every game, so scores and tips from fans fill the gaps.
