An 18-year-old man from Vance County has been arrested in the connection with the shooting death of a man earlier this month.

Jamari Speed was arrested on Thursday, Henderson police said. Speed is charged with murdering 76-year-old Willie Satterfield on May 9 on Lamb Street.

Henderson police said the investigation is ongoing.

Speed will be held without bond pending a court appearance on Friday.

When he was arrested, Speed was out on bond after being arrested last month on drug and assault charges. 

Speed was charged with assault on a female and communicating threats related to an April 27 incident, court records show. 

Last week, Speed was indicted on charges including trafficking opium or heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver heroin and schedule II controlled substances and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance.
