A new era for baseball in Zebulon starts Friday night.
The Zebulon Devil Dogz will kick off their first season at the newly named Nomaco Park, formerly known as Five County Stadium. Capitol Broadcasting Company, WRAL’s parent company, took over day-to-day operations of Nomaco Park in January.

There's a lot of excitement for the new team's home opener. The fun got started Thursday night with a fan festival and ribbon cutting. Fans were able to meet players, get autographs and pick up some merch.
The Devil Dogz will hit the field for the first time and take on the Virginia Beach Valor starting at 6:30 p.m.
You can buy single game tickets for just $22. Included in the price of every ticket is all-you-can-eat concessions, which includes hot dogs, burgers, soda, chips and "mystery Aussie food."
In partnership with Ozball Australia – most of the Devil Dogz on the field will be college players from Australia. We asked Caleb Whittemore, the team's general manager, about what fans can expect Friday night.
“You’ll see, you know, the players signing autographs. They’ll be very involved in the show. Just a fun atmosphere... an atmosphere that is about the people here and not just what’s going on on the field. And you’ve got the Australian tie-in, which makes it really fun as well,” he said.
There will be postgame fireworks to end the night followed by more games and fun-filled promotions through Memorial Day. On Saturday, you can get down on the field before the game, and on Sunday, kids get to run the bases.
Holly Springs Salamanders
The Holly Springs Salamanders are celebrating their opening weekend with Champ the Bat Dog on Friday when the team takes on the Catawba Valley Stars at 6:30 p.m.
K-Pop fans will enjoy the theme on Saturday starting at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday is the night for Star Wars fans starting at 5:05 p.m.
The Salamanders will celebrate Memorial Day with $1 hot dogs. That game will begin at 5:05 p.m. There's also specials on beer on Monday night.
Durham Bulls
The Durham Bulls also have a jam-packed holiday weekend full of baseball.
The team will finish out their six-game series with the Nashville Sounds on Friday and Saturday at 6:45 p.m. and on Sunday at 5:05 p.m.
On Friday there will be fireworks following the game along with the Bull Dragons. Saturday is Military Appreciation Day, and Champ the Bat Dog will return to the field.
On Sunday, the team will celebrate mascot Wool E. Bull's birthday, and kids will get to run the bases after the game.
Wilson Warbirds
The Wilson Warbirds will be finishing out their last three games in a series against the Delmarva Shorebirds this weekend.
On Friday and Saturday, the Warbirds take the field at 7:05 p.m. Sunday's game will start at 1:05 p.m.
Friday will feature a fireworks show after the game. The team will also being paying homage to its Major League affiliate, the Milwaukee Brewers.
Saturday will also feature post-game fireworks. Country music fans will want to grab their boots and hat for Country Night. Then on Sunday, fans are invited to bring their pups to the park.
Fayetteville Woodpeckers
The Woodpeckers will be taking on the Fredericksburg Nationals all this weekend.
The first pitch is at 7:05 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday's game will begin at 5:05 p.m.
Memorial Day Weekend is also Military Appreciation Weekend at Segra Stadium.
Friday will feature fireworks, and the team will be sporting special uniforms that will be auctioned off throughout the game to benefit the 82nd Airborne Association. Fans will also be able to meet players and get autographs after the fireworks.
On Saturday, the team will be giving the first 1,500 fans through the gate replica camo jerseys. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
Sunday is mascot Bunker the Woodpecker's birthday. To celebrate, the team will be handing out special ice cream jersey replicas to the first 750 kids 12 and under who arrive when gates open at 4:05 p.m. Kids will also be able to run the bases after the game.
